Call for Extras this weekend

Our summer video shoot schedule is slowly drawing to a close, only 3 big days left for Extras, two of which are this weekend.

Saturday, July 17th, will be a ZOMBIE day. We need to film “b-roll” scenes that will be used as part of the news broadcast. This will involve zombie make-up by Arvin Clay, and a lot of traveling around to get footage of zombies attacking various locations in our beloved city. We plan to be filming for most of the day with production starting at 10 am, a break for lunch, and continuing into the afternoon. Extras will be rotating in and out for variety, so if you would like to be a zombie in one of those scenes, it will not be necessary for you to stay for the entire day.) Please remember to RSVP with us so we know to expect you and when.

Sunday, July 18th, will be a HUMAN day. We require as many humans as possible to fill a small area in Oakland, in the vicinity of the Cathedral of Learning. This will involve a large crowd of bedraggled-looking refugees escaping to the relative safety of a military-controlled blockade. The meat of this scene has already been filmed, but we will be taking establishing shots to illustrate the size of the crowd.

UPDATE ON SUNDAY:  for human scene this Sunday, all extras please report at 1:30pm next to the big stairs at the Cathedral of Learning (pitt campus) on the Bigelow side, ie outside. Our numbers are still not what one would define as a “mob” so if you have any friends you wish to bring along please do, just give us a heads up so we have an accurate head count!

Interested? Contact jill@thezombieopera.com (our “zombie-wrangler”) and visit the Extras on Film of our website to see our list of needs and expectations.

PS: we are also accepting any suggestions for locations, local businesses, landmarks, etc, to feature on Saturday that symbolize what you like, remember, or think of when you hear the word “Pittsburgh”. Please send any suggestions to barry@thezombieopera.com

Time flies! It feels like just last week that we began production on “Evenings in Quarantine: The Zombie Opera.” Now that we’ve wrapped our seventh day of shooting, I can officially say that this show is going to rock! Obviously, I will not be able to discuss too much in great detail (or else you won’t be surprised at the show!), but I have jotted down some notes from what you’ve missed…. more

Planting Seeds at Sprout – photos and video!

New blog entry (and video!) by Barry posted about our appearance at last friday’s Sprout Fund Summer Social!

Barry in Motion:  Planting Seeds at Sprout

This friday, the Sprout Fund held their Summer Social party in East Liberty. As a Seed Award recipient of the Fund, “The Zombie Opera” was provided with a booth at the event where artistic directors Bonnie Bogovich and Liz Rishel spread the word of the show. Music was provided by DJ Edgar Um and Dream Job (these guys were great!). Ed Huang, our director of photography, also made an appearance. Despite the rain, it was a fun time with good music and really great people.

Take a peak at some pictures from the event and a short video of our experience. Thanks to all who made it out. We’ll see you in October!
